Cupcake Zombie

Zombie Cupcake from Rubbishtees

Finally I found what I have been looking for! A zombie Cupcake felt keychain! Okay maybe I wasn’t exactly looking for this but while looking on Etsy.com I found a super cute shop called Rubbishtees. There are all sorts of cute and quirky items like this. I especially loved the cupcake because personally I love cupcakes and also I love zombies so the two of them seem to go together like yin and yang. Also, I love how there is a bite taken out of the top of it so you can see the pink brains inside.  If the keychain isn’t enough for you, there is a matching cupcake zombie mini tote which was really cute also. The mini-tote was only $5 plus shipping and handling which I thought was a pretty good deal. It doesn’t just stop at zombie cupcakes though. Rubbishtees also offers designs such as zombie poptarts, zombiebread along with the not quite as cool non-zombie related items such as neon bacon totes.  In case you’re wondering, each product is handmade using felt and embroidery floss.

Mutant Zombie

On January 12, 2010, in Species, by Mers

A fat bloated mutant zombie with Toe-nticals.

A mutant zombie was transformed into a mutant either by genetic engineering or maybe a toxic waste spill. There are many possibilities as to the look and powers these zombies can possess. Some may be able to walk on ceilings or some may even be able to fly! They could have some memory of being a human left but most of the time they don’t or it is severly repressed. These are usually powerful zombies once they  have completed their transformation stage. During the transformation, however, they are susceptible to attack. In general, mutant zombies are aggressive and fast. This makes them one of the more dangerous types of zombies to deal with. Many times they will have regenerative powers so if you cut an appendage off it may grow back! Don’t underestimate a mutant zombie. It’s hard to tell what kind of attack they will try next. It is this unpredictability that makes them so dangerous. They can however be stopped by destroying or removing the brain. This zombie gets 4.5 out of 5 brains for danger rating. That’s pretty darned dangerous. Time to start peeing yourself!

Danger Rating 4.5 out of 5. Start Peeing yourself.

Zombies on Twitter

On January 10, 2010, in News, by Mers

A picture from manvszombies

Ok so I don’t actually use Twitter but my sister does and there is this guy called manvszombies on there. Well actually it says his name is Gus and he’s some guy from Florida. He puts under his bio “Zombies are everywhere and this is my diary of the apocalypse.” You can follow him and he has been posting for a long time as if he is living through the zombie apocalypse. He kind of seems like a geek but still a lot of times it’s really funny. He actually goes through story lines and sets up pictures to go along with what is happening to him. So, if you use Twitter, and I know a lot of you do, I think it would be fun to follow manvszombies and get updates on all his fun zombie adventures. I kind of want to make fun of this guy for putting so much effort into a zombie twitter page but then I remembered I am running a zombie website. Weeeeoooong!

Zombie Science

On January 6, 2010, in News, by zombie amy

"Would you like to volunteer for my medical study of the human brain? Just fill out these forms." **drool**

Zombies are a bigger influence that you might think and are even on the minds of scientists. I heard an interesting podcast on NPR about Canadian mathematicians who were trying to predict how epidemics spread by using zombies in their model. Nice. You can read about it here http://www.scpr.org/programs/loh-down-on-science/2010/01/04/zombie-science/.

Interesting out come, those crazy Canadians! Oh no offense, I mean “crazy” in a good way. I love Canada. Throw another shrimp on the bahbie, eh.

Mummies

On January 5, 2010, in Species, by Mers

Mummification is the process of preserving a dead body. Ancient Egypt is famous for their mummies but there are mummies all over the world. Technically a mummy that has been brought back to life is a zombie although it might not be what you first think of when you hear the word zombie. A mummy that has not been brought back to life is just a preserved dead body. Usually a mummy is brought to life through magic  which makes it a little different than the normal graveyard zombie. A mummy may even lose it’s head and not die.

Mummy

The Mummy of Queen Ahmes Nofretari.

The good news is that since they are so old and dried out a mummy is very brittle. The best way to defeat one is to smash it to bits. Another option is to use fire. Mummies are very afraid of fire and will back away if you have a torch. If you use the torch on them they will burn rather quickly. The other option is to reverse the magical spell which can be rather complicated. In the case of an Ancient Egyptian mummy, the magic spell usually will consist of a curse that a person has received for disturbing the pharoahs tomb. The mummy will be trying to protect the tomb and get revenge in the name of the pharoah. While there may be a way to reverse the spell it will probably involve being able to read heiroglyphs.

I give the mummy zombie 3 brains for the danger rating. They are dangerous and strong but there are some simple ways in which to kill them and on top of that they are pretty slow moving which makes it easy to run from them.

Danger Rating = 3 Brains (pretty scary!)
