Three days of monster mayhem will be taking place in Burbank, California April 9-11. Yes, that’s right, Monsterpalooza! Basically it is a huge festival with vendors and exhibits. There will be a multitude of special effects artists, make-up artists, comic book artists, actors, and designers attending. What made me perk my ears up about this one is that there will be a special presentation this year where actors and artists from the Return of the Living Dead will be discussing the making of the movie. This presentation will be followed by a viewing of the film. This is an awesome movie and a cult classic. I remember this movie scaring me so bad, especially the first zombie in the beginning. The half dog thing also weirded me out a lot. So it may be worth it to head down to Burbank and explore the horrifying art of the monster.

Some girl posted this on Facebook. If you don’t recognize it already, it’s the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book cover in tattoo form. This is actually a girl from New York named Stephanie’s tattoo. She said it’s a little swollen here but it still looks hot to me! Stephanie has shown dedication and respect for zombies and Jane Austen at the same time. Way to go Stephanie for being a super badass chick! Much respect.
This has got to be the coolest zombie event I’ve heard of thus far. Not only do you get to dress up as a zombie and parade around Los Angeles on a night other than Halloween, you get to see awesome zombie art! A perfect Pre-Valentines day activity!
The opening reception on February 6th starts with a zombie walk, which involves dressing up and acting (for some of us) like a zombie all through the city. Love it! Then ends up at a huge art show at Nucleus Gallery. This art event gathers some of the most recognized names in the zombie industry as well as fellow zombie enthusiasts.
Free prizes, free refreshments, free admission (for those dressed as zombies, otherwise $2 bucks. So its either this event or a bottle of Charles Shaw. hmmm…), live music and book signing are in store for you at this monstrous gathering. Event runs Feb 6-22, more details at gallerynucleus.com. Terry Border is an artist in Indiana. He has a very unique style. He sells greeting cards and prints of his artwork on his website. Although most of his art is not zombie related he is still pretty awesome. I never thought peanuts had brains before but now I see that they do! Matt Busch is a well known artist in the entertainment industry. He has worked on many illustrations for Star Wars. This series may be his best yet. He has managed to zombify Star Wars and I could never have imagined it would be done so well. He adds a grunginess to the poster without losing the original feel of Star Wars. Its pretty amazing.
