Voodoo Zombie

pufferfishhWhat some people may not know is that the idea of a zombie was originated on a small island called Haiti. The voodou religion was first practiced in Haiti. It is through this practice of voodou that an evil “boker” would be known to use a magical powder to create zombies. This powder would actually be made with various toxic substances from spiders, lizards, frogs, and the famous puffer fish. The fish especially contains a very toxic substance which would cause paralysis to its victim. Everyone would believe the person to be dead since they cannot move and their breath has slowed down. However, later that person would be revived and then be under the bokers power as a zombie.

A Voodoo Zombie and his Boker

A voodoo zombie is a zombie that was created by an evil boker which is a kind of witch doctor. The boker creates a zombie to punish a person or just to have a personal slave they can use to do their bidding. The boker uses a darker side of the religion voodou to create the zombie. With that being said, not all voodou is dark. See this post for more information on the history of voodou and zombies. A voodoo zombie is slow  moving and not the sharpest tool in the shed. Therefore you should be able to trick one fairly easily. There is usually just one or two in a village so it’s not like there is a big threat of hordes. A voodoo zombie is interesting because it may have some memory of it’s human life, however, this is a faint and abstract concept to it and keep in mind it has to do whatever the boker wills it to. So, even if it remembers you from when it was alive it may still have to kill you because that’s what the boker wants it to do. They are slow but strong and it’s boker may ask it to attack at the most opportune moments (such as while sleeping.) Therefore, I give the Voodoo Zombie three and a half brains for it’s danger rating.

Danger Rating = 3.5 brains (oh yes, there will be blood)

A brief history of zombies in the movies

On December 7, 2009, in Entertainment, by Mers

white-zombieFilmmakers have long been inspired by zombies. The earliest of these films was white zombie which was made in 1932. Bela Lugosi plays the villian who uses voodoo to turn a young women into a zombie.
Since then there have been many great movies that were inspired from the idea of the zombie. Some argue maybe the best zombie movie ever is night of the living dead. It was directed by George Romero in 1968. He created what most people think of when they think of a zombie. The slow moving dead that have risen to eat humans and can only be killed by shooting their head. George Romero went on to direct and write Dawn of the Dead, another zombie masterpeice.
